Manchester City gets a new coach; Juanma Lilo replaces Mikel Arteta

Mikel Areta left Man City in December to become head coach at Asernal. He has now been replaced by Juanma Lillo who joins the club as Pep Guardiola’s No.2!

Lillo, 54, left the Chinese side Qingdao Huanghai who he had led to the Chinese league one Title for Man City.

Lillo has managed Oviedo, Tenerife, Zaragoza, Real Sociedad likewise an acting assistant at Chille and Sevilla.

He coaches Guardiola towards his career end at Mexican side Dorados de Sinaloa.

Joining the team, Lillo told the team’s official website:

“I am delighted to have joined Manchester City’s coaching staff.

“My relationship with Pep goes back many years and I am thrilled to be joining him as part of this exciting team.

“It’s a pleasure to become a part of this group and I hope to make an important contribution to the club’s success going forwards.”
