The protest of the volunteers hired for the African Nations Football Championship (CHAN) which has been played in Cameroon since January 16, 2021, has paid off.
After demonstrating last week in front of the services of the governor of the Littoral region in Douala, the volunteers were paid this weekend. The latter claimed costs related to their tasks. It is the organizing committee of the competition which announces having disinterested the volunteers selected for the tournament. The discontent of the latter in the economic capital of Cameroon, has therefore fallen.
The accountant of the Local Organizing Committee went even further, saying that all volunteers, without exception, will be paid before the start of next week, and this at the four sites that house the other venues of the competition. : Yaoundé, Buea and Limbe. This is what a letter signed Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, the Cameroonian Minister of Sports and Physical Education, and president of the local organizing committee of CHAN 2021, suggests. But the law professor will not have had a break, with a letter of denunciation of the stadiums of the Japoma stadium in Douala. The latter complain of ill-treatment of all kinds. Unworthy treatment they would suffer from officials.
In any case, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi must keep watch.
