The tragedy occurred on Wednesday evening around 7 p.m. at the checkpoint Yara, at the entrance to the Cameroon Shipyard and Industrial Building.

According to the first information we gathered , it was a truck loaded with pozzolana belonging to a subcontractor of a cement plant installed at the Port of Douala-Bonabéri which violently struck and caused the death of Mr. Moustapha Mahamat, Douala Port Sécurity agent on duty.

The rescue services of the Port of Douala-Bonabéri immediately went to the scene of the tragedy. The victim’s lifeless body was deposited in the morgue.

Pending the results of the investigation carried out which will elucidate the circumstances of this unfortunate tragedy, in a press release made public this Thursday, the Director General of PAD, Cyrus Ngo’o wished to “remind all users, and all the port community, that the safety and security measures being implemented are intended to preserve the integrity of people and equipment intended for port operations, and are therefore enforceable against all, without exception ”.
