Spike Lee, American director and producer who rediscovered his Cameroonian origins thanks to DNA tests and his wife were received in Paris by the Cameroonian ambassador to France, André-Magnus Ekoumou.

New Yorker Spike Lee arrived in France to preside over the jury of the 74th Cannes film festival.Informed of the interested party’s desire to get in touch with the country of origin of his ancestors, Ambassador André-Magnus EKOUMOU met Spike Lee and his wife at a dinner organized in his honour at the Cameroonian Embassy in France.

The Ambassador invited his host to visit Cameroon to get to know it better and take part in the ongoing economic and social development. To conclude, the Ambassador invited the director and other African-Americans who have discovered their roots in Cameroon to be advocates for the defense and promotion of Cameroon’s interests in the United States.

Spike Lee, for his part, thanked the Ambassador for this fraternal welcome, as well as for the dinner while expressing the deep joy that inhabits him through this reunion and the identification of the country of origin of his ancestors. He also praised the collaboration of science with the DNA test for the realization of his dream.

Fan of football and the Indomitable Lions, the director and producer told Ambassador André-Magnus Ekoumou that he will travel to Cameroon to attend the African Cup of Nations which will take place from January 9 to February 6, 2022 and thanked the representative of the head of state for this invitation.

He will take advantage of this trip to Cameroon to visit the country, taste the local culinary art. Like Spike Lee, nearly 8,000 African Americans have found their roots in this central African country after undergoing a DNA test.
