Samuel Eto’o officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming Cameroon Football Federation elections on Tuesday.

It’s now official. After promising his followers on Facebook yesterday that he will make a statement today on his position, the Cameroonian legend just made it a few minutes ago. He officially announces his candidacy and gives the reasons which motivated him to take such a decision.

“I am honoured and happy to announce my candidacy for the Presidency of the Cameroon Football Federation. After careful consideration, I decided to take this initiative out of love for Cameroon and passion for our football. For me, it would be an honor to serve the institution that has awarded me all of the accolades I have received to date. I stand before you on this special occasion because time is running out. Waiting is not an option. It is time to rebuild our football. We can no longer delay the overhaul of our number one sport because the rest of the world is moving forward, it is moving forward without us “, we can read.

Like Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o is embarking on the race for the presidency of FECAFOOT. The former FC Barcelona player is applying for the post of delegate to the regional general assemblies of the department of Sanaga-Maritime.
